Last week, I did headshots for a dear friend and one of my favorite subjects. Christina is an opera singer and needed updated headshots for auditions and also a new personal website. She has just finished a successful summer of concerts and training with the Asheville (NC) Lyric Opera Young Artist Program, as one of just six singers chosen to participate.

We photographed these images with window light in the background. The style of headshots for opera singers today is moving away from solid white background. In these portraits, I used a narrow depth of field so the window frame and the greenery outside would go out of focus and thus not distract from the main subject.
Faithful readers will recall other photographs I’ve taken of Christina. If you do a search for “Christina” in the search box to the right, you’ll see some earlier posts with images of her as well as a link to a video we created together.
Wishing Christina all the best in her budding opera career!
