The Client Speaks

Recently I did headshots in my studio for several partners of the marketing and design firm, 341 Studios. This is a terrific group that does fabulous work. They are cutting edge experts on social media and well as more traditional areas of marketing.

Pictured above is Michele Graham, one of the partners I photographed.

After the shoot, this blog post went up on the 341 Studio blog, about best practices for headshots. Good advice here, and the kind words for the photographer are much appreciated. Great fun for me to shoot with these smart, attractive and dynamic women. I’ve worked with them for several years and they have become dear friends.

“Behind the Scenes” at a Fashion Shoot

Last Friday was a really fun day at the studio! We were shooting a “behind the scenes” video of a fashion photoshoot. The model was my good friend, Amelia Huckel-Bauer, a NYC-based actor and model, with whom I have worked several times before.

Maria Dominici, a makeup artist, and David Distasio, a hair stylist, were part of the terrific team for the day. I’ve worked many times with Maria – you’ll see of lot of her work in my images – but it was the first time collaborating with David – the first of many, I hope.

The videographer was Matt Shea, of Matt of All Media. I’d seen a few videos produced for other photographers of “behind the scenes” at photoshoots that we took some inspiration from. Matt and I planned out pretty carefully what we wanted to accomplish for the day but stayed open to spontaneous creative ideas.  Matt actually shot all of the video using one of my cameras, the NIkon D800, which gave us some special effects we wanted.

These are a few of my still images of the day. We haven’t settled yet on which images will go into the video. Here’s Matt shooting Amelia, below.

I don’t want to say too much about the video – you’ll have to wait (along with me!) to see how it turns out. But this was a fabulous experience for me to work with an amazing professional team. Many thanks to all of you! We’ll post the video when it’s released –  Stay tuned!

My New Video!

I’m thrilled to introduce the new promotional video for Blake Robinson Photography!

Many thanks to Matt Shea of Matt of All Media for producing the video. Also to Michele Graham of 341 Studios for crafting my new tagline, which debuts in the video:

Individual, Indelible, Iconic Portraits.

And most of all, thanks to the wonderful clients and friends whose images – and words – you will see and hear.

As you watch the video, click on the rectangular shape in the bottom right corner, so the video will appear fullscreen. Then, click on the the little gear icon to change the quality of the video – higher is better!
