No Marathon? I’ll Run My Own!

My friend, Lisa, trained long and hard for the New York City Marathon. When it was cancelled, she simply created her own course through several Connecticut towns. She put on her Marathon T shirt and bib number and ran, by herself, on Sunday, for 26 miles, 385 yards. Here she is, cruising through my neighborhood in Darien.

I’ve read a fair amount  about photographing marathon runners. Most photographers and runners agree it’s hard to get a flattering picture – the runner is sweaty, tired, disheveled, stressed and maybe awkward looking. Well, behold Lisa, above, more than half way through her run. As you can see, she was cool, calm and collected – and looked fabulous!

Lisa had fans all along her route cheering her on, including these two women.

Incidentally, my neighborhood, right after Hurricane Sandy came through, was littered with downed power lines, uprooted trees and all manner of other storm debris. For some reason, none of this appeared in these images – thankfully. We’ve seen enough of Sandy.

Brava, Lisa. You did great!

Working both in the studio and on location, photographer Blake Robinson serves the Connecticut communities of Darien, New Canaan, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport and Greenwich.
