My Grand Nephew Leo

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting with some family members in Maine. This young fellow is my grand nephew, Leo, age 3. I had to look up in Wikipedia what you call your nephew’s son and – yes – the answer is grand nephew.

Leo is three years old  and he is a grand fellow indeed. What a joy it was to spend three days with him. These pictures were taken in the late afternoon on a cloudy day, so the light is soft and subtle and the colors are quite muted.

For those of you who are technically inclined, I shot these images with the lens pretty wide open – F5. So, the depth of field is very narrow – in some cases just one eye is in focus. Shooting at this aperture blurs out the background – just what we wanted to do.

Stay tuned for pictures later this week of Leo’s sister, Maisie – a grand niece if ever there was one!

Working both in the studio and on location, photographer Blake Robinson serves the Connecticut communities of Darien, New Canaan, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport and Greenwich.
