Still Images for a Videographer

Last week, I created some images for my friend, Matt Shea of Matt of All Media. Matt is a fabulous videographer and video production specialist.  We’ve worked together on a number of client projects.

Matt needed some new images for his website and for other uses. He’d seen an image similar to the one above and wanted to replicate the style. For lighting, I had one soft-box positioned slightly to camera right. There was also one small light just behind Matt, aimed back at the grey paper. This gave a bit of separation of Matt from the background and also a nice subtle variation in tone across the background. Matt may use this image with some text on the left side of the frame.

We also shot some headshots – some fairly serious, like this one, others with more of an open smile. It’ll be interesting to see which ones Matt uses!  I like this one – it shows intelligence and – well – gravitas!

Matt has created two videos for me – One video was a “behind the scenes” look at a model shoot. You can see it at Behind the Scenes. I’m looking forward to doing another video with Matt soon. If you’re thinking about a video for your business or organization, I highly recommend Matt Shea.

New Website!

I have a new website!

For some time, the site has needed an upgrade. With the new site, we’ve followed the design and colors of my blog.

The old site was cluttered and hard to navigate. Now, I’m just showing my best and most representative work, in four categories: men, women, youth and model and actors. There are links to my Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter pages, and lots more.

Hope you will check it out and let me know what you think.

Dogs, Cats and Those who Care for Them

Eye to Eye

Recently, I spent two days in lower Manhattan taking pictures at four veterinarian hospitals that comprise DVM Hospitals.

Hold Me

My assignment was to take pictures for their website – actually four websites, one for each of the facilities. We took headshots of the veterinarians and staff, pictures of the animals being treated and anything else of interest that came into view.

These were two very full days of terrific fun. Everyone I photographed – both two-legged and four-legged subjects – were easy to be with, enthusiastic and full of life.

The staff members of DVM Hospitals are amazing. To say they like animals is a serious understatement. They live and breathe animals. Most of them have pets themselves. I watched everything from toenail-clipping to major surgery and was impressed with the care, concern and love that was showered on the pets.

Things happened pretty fast. When I shoot in the studio, I can take the time to try different expressions, poses, etc. I didn’t have that luxury here and had to react pretty quickly. A couple of times, I asked a dog to repeat what he just did a few seconds ago – but usually got a blank stare back. The humans were much more cooperative.

Some of these images are already on their website. If you live in the city and need a vet for your pet, DVM Hospitals is the place to go!
