Katie in the New Studio

As loyal readers will recall, I had a large studio space in an office building in Connecticut for 8 years. When we moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, I set up a dedicated home studio. Katie, pictured here, was my first subject in the new studio space.

Katie, who teaches at a local school here on the island, was a joy to work with. I’m hoping we’ll be able to shoot again!

The new studio space worked well. I don’t have all of the lights and other gear from my  studio space in Connecticut, but sometimes less is more. With a simpler approach to lighting, I can concentrate more on making a strong image.

I’m ready to take on new clients in Hilton Head now – either in the home studio, at a client’s home or business, or outside – including the beach!

Thanks for a great shoot, Katie!

Motherly Love

Faithful readers will recognize these two lovely ladies. Elora, now soon to be 18 months old, was featured in my last blog post, Sixteen Months. And I’ve shot with her mom, Amelia, many times. Amelia is an accomplished actor and model and is the star of this video.

These two were such fun to photograph. The enthusiastic love and joy they share with each other is infectious and comes through in these images loud and clear.

A mother’s love for her child is like
nothing else in the world. It knows no
law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes
down remorselessly all that stands in its path.

Sixteen Months

Recently I had the opportunity to shoot with this lovely young lady, Elora, who is 16 months old.  Please click on any image in this post to make it LARGER.

Elora was a joy to photograph. She is full of life and joy.  Over two hours of shooting, the meltdowns were, amazingly, few and far between.  Elora came with her mom – keep your eyes out for another blog post with images of the two of them together. But I wanted to give Elora her own place to shine by herself – which she certainly did!

When I shoot with young kids, I always wonder what the world will be like for them when they grow up.  What will college be like for Elora? How will it be when she has her own 16 month old child?
