Media King!

My new friend, Matt Shea, does video production – plus a lot of other things around various forms of media. In fact, his business name, which says it best, is Matt of All Media. Check out Matt’s website.  Matt asked me to take some pictures that could be used on his website and for other purposes. We had a fun shoot creating these images last week.

Matt is a real pro and a nice fellow to boot. He’s preparing a short marketing video for me (stay tuned!).  If you need a video produced for your business, talk to Matt.

Notes from Two Clients

Last week, I received two wonderful notes from clients.  The mom of this young fellow wrote as follows:

Blake, I’m so impressed by your photos of our boys (34 and 9 mos). We have taken them to several professional photographers and your shoot was, by far, the most fun and rewarding. Just look at the photos! You skillfully captured their innocence, joy and individual personalities.

I want to thank you for working with us to create photos of Zach which compliment photos we have of Ben at the same age. You listened to us and I think that went a long way in making the shoot a success. Further, you were very thoughtful to buy the white blanket for Zach’s photos and I hope you get good use out of it. You also got the boys to sit together for a professional photo – a first for us.

Both of our sons were 2lb preemies and are now big, healthy boys. The NICU nurses loved your photos and are so proud of how well their former charges are doing, and we can’t wait to share your photos with other NICU parents to give them hope that these kids don’t stay small forever.

Blake, I look forward to working with you again. You were a real delight. Lis

And then, a NYC-based actor sent this note:

Dear Blake,

These pictures are amazing! I’m speechless… they are absolutely breathtaking. I think I’ll have to get a new comp card now!  I had no idea what you were thinking of doing with the raw images, or at least I couldn’t imagine how they might come out, and I am absolutely thrilled and impressed with your artistry.  Wonderful work.   I hope you are happy with them as well and I can’t wait to do another shoot.

 Thanks again Blake,     Amelia

I’m honored and humbled by these words. One of the great joys of being a portrait  photographer is having the images appreciated and cherished by the subject – or the parents of the subject.

Thank-you, Lis, and Thank-you, Amelia!

Helping Seniors in Darien

Aging in Place + Gallivant is a wonderful social services agency in my home town of Darien, CT. Seniors are assisted in many ways, helping them to stay in their own homes and lead healthy, happy and safe lives. Check out the website of this terrific organization.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a newspaper campaign for AIP+G with my friends at 341 Studios, a local marketing and design firm. The advertisements that 341 Studios created are appearing over 8 weeks in our local newspaper, The Darien Times. The ads feature volunteers, clients, donors and board members of AIP+G. I did the photography for the ads. This was a fun project to work on!

Pictured above is Charlie England, who is both a board member and a volunteer. Charlie helps seniors with small repair jobs in their homes. He happens to be a close friend of mine as well.

We’re still in the middle of the ad campaign. There’s a different ad each week – if you read The Darien Times, watch for them; they’ll run through the end of April. Below is the ad that appeared with Charlie’s image last week.
