Beauty Shoot with Nadia

Last week, we had a fun shoot with Nadia, an aspiring model. In part, these are typical beauty headshots, but with a classic, old Hollywood aesthetic. Nadia’s wonderful makeup artist friend, Averi, helped us create the look.

In going over the pictures and editing them, I was amazed to see the variety of hairstyles Nadia came up with, without a lot of fuss or muss. Well, in a few of the pictures we went with a purposely mussy look – see the last photograph, below.

With several of the images, we created both black & white and color versions. As shown in the two images above, you can sense a very different feeling in the two photographs. In the black & white conversions, I used Silver Efex Pro, a fabulous plug-in program to Photoshop, that can replicate many old film styles. Which of these two images do you like best? I’d love to hear from you!

Thanks, Nadia, for a great shoot. Hope we can work together again!

Working both in the studio and on location, photographer Blake Robinson serves the Connecticut communities of Darien, New Canaan, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport and Greenwich.

blake, i’d absolutely go with the b/w. i think from an artistic sense, the history of b/w gives it a boost above the others! but that’s just me. 🙂
